Travel Essentials for your Carry On Luggage

It is the time of the year when a lot of people are leaving the cold behind for around 1 to 2 week (some even leave for 1 month or even longer!). With travelling comes the task of packing a suitcase; and some people some times do the mistake of over packing or under packing. I always recommend bringing a carry on to anyone going a vacation. In case of scenarios like delayed or lost luggage, you should Always bring a carry on with you.

Here is a scenario for you:

You are leaving for Cancun, Mexico and your flight is about 3 to 4 hours plus you have a connection in New York (which can add 2 to 3 hours to your travel time). Your trip is for 2 weeks and you are bringing a big suitcase (checked bag) and a carry on. During your connection from New York to Cancun, your checked bag was rerouted to Dallas, Texas (which would make it delayed by a few hours or even up to a day). OH NO! Most times airlines mix up bags; and they can be rerouted and delayed.  The airline has said that it will be about 2 to 3 hours to get it back. All your clothes are in the checked bag, and you want to change your clothes. That is not a problem because you are prepared and have all you need in your carry on luggage.

Here is what you need /have in your Carry On:

Spare Clothes and Underwear

If you lose your luggage, it is very important to keep an extra outfit in your carry on. A pair of pants and a shirt or a dress if it is warm where you are.
Here are both options that I chose:

Cozy Wool Socks

Don't forget warm socks! Airplanes are kept cool and no matter how much time you spend on one, you always end up having cold feet. I remember when I was on my flight from Montreal to London, I tried to take a nap and later I woke up and had such cold feet, I had to put on an extra pair.

A Swimsuit

If it will take a day or two to get your bag; keep your swimsuit with you. It sucks if you get to your resort and you don't have a swimsuit to enjoy a swim.

Extra pair of shoes

I always pack an extra pair of shoes because I like options for outfits. Also if your luggage is delayed, having an extra pair of shoes in your carry on is a good idea. The option I chose is in the outfit picture above.

Sunglasses

Wherever I go I always bring a pair of sunglasses with me. It is very important to protect your eyes everyday for harmful UVA / UVB rays. This pair of sunglasses is a new pair that I have recently bought, and I am already in love with them.

Toiletries & Makeup

I always advise people to bring their toiletries and makeup in their carry on. It is pretty basic because you probably don't have much space for it in your checked bag.

 Books

During a trip, I like to get some reading done. Whether it is a new book or an old favorite; you can never go wrong with have a book or two on vacation. The books I have chosen are Girl Online by Zoe Sugg and A Work in Progress by Connor Franta.

Earphones

Whether you have music to listen to on your phone or you just want to watch in-flight movies; bring your own earphones.

Eye Mask

Usually when you catch a flight, it could be early in the morning or late at night. I use an eye mask at home and it is a good idea to bring one on a flight. You can use it when you want to get some rest during your flight, and also when you are at the resort for few more hours of rest after a late night.

Chargers for Camera & Phone

When I went on my trip, I kept all my valuables in my carry on and that included my chargers for my phone and camera. When you want to take loads of pictures of your vacation or want to talk to your family; you will want to keep your phone and camera charged and ready.

All together it should look like this:

So, those are my Travel Essentials for a Carry On. It has been a while since I have done a Travel related post; and I missed it. I can't wait to do more of these soon.
Hope you all had a great weekend! See you soon!
